Art Spectrum Calcite is a fine, dense white chalk (calcium carbonate). Use it as a filler in water-based paints to increase opacity, or to extend oil colours. When used to make traditional grounds for oil painting, it gives the surface extra tooth.
Calcite has a lower oil absorbency than Whiting.
