Cranfield Traditional Etching Inks are oil-based printmaking inks made by Cranfield Colours and handcrafted in Great Britain. Cranfield describes them as historic formulations that have barely changed in generations, with pigments finely ground into pure oil for archival results. They are made for all types of intaglio printmaking, including etching, drypoint, aquatint and mezzotint.

Colours available

  • Lemon Yellow: semi-transparent. Pigments PY3 and PW6.
  • Permanent Red: semi-transparent. Pigments PR112, PR4, PR48:2 and PW6.
  • Cobalt Blue Genuine: semi-opaque. Genuine cobalt pigment PB28.
