Workshop Details

This welcoming workshop is designed for those new to acrylic painting or looking to build confidence with the medium. Craig will introduce the versatility of acrylics through clear, step-by-step demonstrations, guiding participants through essential techniques and materials.

Participants will be encouraged to experiment, explore their creativity, and develop their own approach in a relaxed and supportive environment. A range of subject matter will be covered, with an emphasis on working from photographs and interpreting them in a loose, energetic style.

Craig’s classes are fun, encouraging, and accessible, making this an ideal starting point for beginner artists.

About the Artist

Based on the South Coast of NSW, specifically working on Dharawal and Dhurga Country, Craig Penny studied art at Federation University, where painting and graphic design attracted most of his attention. Craig pursued a successful career as an illustrator in the advertising industry and became a member of the Illustrators Association of Australia.

Craig’s career has progressed into a range of mediums including skills in computer graphics. As a result Craig has also undertaken a successful career in teaching both traditional drawing and illustration at both Victoria University and Swinburne University. Throughout this time, he never lost his love of using traditional methods and now specializes in watercolour and acrylic painting. This has lead to an extremely successful solo career.
